(Why Nigeria and Most nation can never be a secular country):
For the most part of it; religion is NOT and has never been a personal matter or affair, however it is important to acknowledge the difference between pretending religion is a personal matter and actually showing through practice that it truly is.
One of the most glaring fact of today's society is the open show of hypocrisy and an ever sense of "wannabe" by so called religious adherent of several faith to be seen as quote: "Open minded and non-radicalized", the truth however is that such thoughts pushes us away from the real teachings of what religion stands for and more towards a high immoral and insecure society(We would get to that in other topics).
The issue of religion as personal matter and secularity of a nation away from religion has many similarities yet each one re-defined in ways that suits those trying to make a case for themselves.
When a nation decides to make holidays for religious Festivals like Christmas and Islamic Festivals, then it brings us to another show of public ignorance on why for the most part of it, religion is and has always been a public issue rather than personal.
As to what reasons does government make Christmas and Eid holidays while ignoring hindu, jewish, budhist or even atheist holidays when they demand it?
- On what grounds do certain people come on the street, online and other places to protest against Gay marriage Yet they would still argue and deceive themselves that religion is a personal matter?
-On what grounds does an elected leader in government holds his or her hands on their religious book and swear an oath into office?
Religion only becomes a Personal matter when the deceit called: "Secularity" decides to sneak through the back door.
In the world of today, many are ashamed to be tagged "religious" but proud to wear the tag "Secular", this is mostly because the world around us for most cases continue to shape the way we think.
A secular nation is a nation devoid of all religious law, influence, teachings et el on the affairs of government or general rulings of the nation.
If Secularity is taken as a whole, then I would argue that NO nation is a secular nation- however, wishful thinking is different from reality.
For now, my main aim is on Nigeria, the secularity of Nigeria comes to play for example when people finds it fun and fulfilling to step on other peoples religious rights, this again is more of low self esteem than genuine justice.
When Lagos state government decides to ban the Hijab for primary and secondary government school student, we hear many supporting him and being happy.
Their reasons:
"Nigeria is a secular nation and religion is Personal", the open display of hypocrisy in their words is one that tends to give you "Instant Ebola", while you try to dehydrate yourself as fast as you can.
They claim Nigeria is secular yet Our senators have no problem standing in front of house of assembly to preach to us on how quote: "Our Religion", does not support gay marriage and as such must not be accepted, those claiming Nigeria is secular also do not have a problem with that.
The only sensible reason the senators "bring to the table" for their anti-gay stand is their religious teachings towards it.
For years, the government of various state+federal in Nigeria have been sponsoring religious pilgrims YET we claim Nigeria is a secular nation and religion is personal affair.
You do not have a problem with making Sunday solely public holiday so you can go pray but that doesn't bother you that it might dent your secular image?
The word :"Secular" only comes to play when one group decides to suppress the others religious freedom or right.
Until we accept Gay rights, Incest, cancel all religious related holidays, stop compulsory teachings of Islamic and Christian studies in secondary school and destroy all the Church and Mosque present in Presidential Villa and all state government houses, then we should bury our heads in "hypocrisy" before spilling our gibberish on secularity of Nigeria or other nation
If this for the most part of it, isn't religion being pushed down to public realms of affair and down "every other persons throat", then only when our hypocrisy is cleansed from our eyes and brains would we see the type of lie we sale to people and systematically implant in our own brains.
Nigeria is NOT and has NEVER been a secular nation and for the most part of it, Secular nations are nation more closer to satan's will than God's will- Do not be deceived by everything because the media claims it to be good for you.
NOTE: "This above analysis can be for all country-Simply look beyond the tags".
So now answer the question: "Has religion ever been a person matter?"
