The deceit called FREEDOM OF SPEECH

The deceit called FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

Everyone wants the opportunity to fully express themselves, everyone sometime in their life secretly wish others could hear what they think and feel not just about themselves or community within but about the greater world outside of theirs. Everyone has an opinion and everyone has a right to their opinion; such is the gift of tolerance.

Just the thought and feeling of having to express yourself fully; having to let those around you and beyond know what you feel and think; just those thoughts makes a lot of people feel so good and proud of themselves. Freedom of speech have for years been a delicate matter even among countries who claim to be the champions of free speech.

I believe that everyone has the right to free speech, I believe that everyone has the right to be heard, I believe that everyone should have the right to their opinion but I do not believe every opinion has the right to be spread.

There should be a balance between having freedom of speech and harming others; for the greater good of the society, opinions of people that bring hate and destabilize a society should not be allowed to be spread, it should not be allowed to cause harm in a society, peace and safety should always be a greater priority than free speech.

Most western and EU countries who claim to be advocates of free speech sometimes show double standard in their fight for freedom expression.
When a Gay is insulted for being Gay; it becomes homophobic, anti gay and in most cases comes with penalty and for business owners, they are sanctioned or boycotted, naturally if freedom of speech is all about expressing ones view, then having opinion against Gays should not be stopped; no country in the world should ever claim of being able to grant freedom of speech or expression. If anyone accuses Israel for their crimes against the Palestinians or if someone calls for the boycott of Israel; they are tagged anti Jews, or even called supporters of Hitler or supporters of the death of Israelis during the world war. If a great balance is not struck between free speech and hate speech, then greater harm than good will be done to ordinary people all in the name of free speech.

When the faith of over 1 billion Muslims are insulted and their prophet portrayed in a bad manner and movies made to cause hate against the Muslims, it becomes freedom of speech in same countries where insulting Gays and Jewish nation is a crime.

I believe that if a balance is not struck between free speech, playing double standard and spreading hate; then no country should ever claim of being a free speech nation and not all speeches deserves the right to be heard.

  1. Censorship is dangerous. Liberty may allow those who hurt voice..but it allows those voices to be known and who they are. Let it surface then work at teaching it. As has the past 7000 years
