SocialMedia bill?What bill?

#NoToSocialMediaBill#?What bill?

I honestly do not know the full details of the bill suggested and I refuse to follow majority blindly.

Those behind the bill are yet to give the full details and ofcourse, they said they will give indepth analysis of what the bill entails, until then, we should probably not condemn the bill outright. You do not simply spill words without first understanding and hearing from both sides of the debate.

Do not simply decorate yourself and profile with a hashtag which you probably do not know the whole story.

I cannot be a hypocrite or be fooled by whatever people bring forward to me and I refuse to be bullied into submission without proper understanding.

I have always been against "full free speech", and 2years back, I wrote articles against it which was published in some places.

No doubt, We are all entitled to our free speech but free speech should NEVER be a license for you to cause hate or spill words capable of plunging a country into chaos etc.

We all know the type of articles people like Femi Fani Kayode have written and the hate he constantly spread against specific tribes and religion. FFK was a self made hater and engage in a hate which no doubt would end up consuming him and probably his supporters who applaud such.

You do not hide under free speech to cause mayhem.

"Muslims are the devil themselves, every Muslim supports bokoharam and islam encourages Muslims to kill everyone, so I urge my Christian brothers and sister to first kill them before they kill you"

"Hausa's are tribalist bigot, I hate them, all Yoruba's should rally against them and if possible fight them"

"Igbo's are evil, they burnt down our shops and mosque in Onitsha and harmed our brothers. I hope my people kill every igbo in their states".

"Yoruba's are cowards, all they do is support hausa's to do evil, if they want war, my people should arm themselves and engage in pre-emptive strike".

Ofcourse this can all be classified and should we honestly encourage or condone such words?

Breaking News: "Muslims killing christians in kaduna state".

Same News site 2hours later: "Sorry for our previous reports, it was confirmed to be false".
And what happens then? Might be too late because some phycotic individuals would have rounded up Muslims in their community and killed them. Well, shouldn't media be made to pay for such stupidity and false report in first place?

Ofcourse this can all be classified as free speech and press freedom and should we honestly encourage or condone such words?

Free speech without regulation or "red line" is a recipe for disaster and even if disaster does not creep, hate, disdain and disgust would not doubt creep in through the back door and as such, the society would be one "sitting on a time bomb".

I would like to see people like FFK behind bars for spreading hates capable of causing chaos, I would like to see people responsible for radio biafra FB page in jail for their many hate speeches and lies, and no doubt, I would like to see news sites like sahara reporters, naij.com,scannews,premium times and all online and offline news medium who report any false news or write articles or publicly publish things about anyone without bringing evidence should no doubt be sanctioned.

Sanity needs to be restored all round and because your slave masters say: "Free speech is everything", it does not mean you blindly follow all they say especially when your slave masters(Western nations) herself do not engage in full free speech. Some are hypocritical governments who choose when to "witch hunt" you for hate speech and when to encourage you to spread hate- depending on what propaganda they hope to achieve.

As far as the social media bill would not be used for witch hunt and as far as it does not stop ordinary Nigerians from exercising free speech such as criticizing government without fear or sharing views which isn't hate speech, then by all means, I strongly, 100% support it.

We should never sacrifice public sanity and security for unregulated free speech.
