Te Myth that Mr Rotimi Amechi and Online Media pulled down Ex-president Jonathan

Of the many sins some people accuse Mr. Rotimi Amechi of, is that he helped make Gej loose the presidency- this feeling is mutual among both camps of the political divide(APC and PDP) supporters, however, how true this is, depends on how you view Nigerians methods of reasoning.

Mr Rotimi Amechi during the weeks leading to 2015 elections was a fierce critic of the then President Jonathan, this led to Amechi being intimidated and harassed, though not alone in the circle of harrasment- the opposition members were harassed and chased around, their plane grounded and movement restricted- It, at some point became obvious that the country had turned into a clear and open dictatorship.

However, the likes of Amechi were persistant and determined no matter the cost, he stood firmly with the opposition, he risked it all knowing fully well that if the ex-president had won or retained power, then he(Amechi) would be in big problem.
That was Amechi's struggles and determination, his contribution to a cause he believed in- he was nicknamed: "The lion of Niger delta", a name he wore proudly around him.

Amechi's struggle, and activities made people feel he helped pull down Gej, Amechi might have stood firmly with the opposition, but he did not pull down Gej.

During the period of election, Some online media outlets were accused by supporters of then President Jonathan of being fiercely Anti-Gej- how true this is depends on the line you draw between true journalism and witch hunting.

Amechi might have played his role, but he was far from being the one that pulled down Gej, those who pulled down Gej were the frustrated and tired Nigerians who believed that enough was enough, this Nigerians turned their frustrations into a tool for campaign against the president- A new force and silent revolution was born, one which saw ordinary Nigerians more into politics than ever before, one which saw Okada riders, shoe makers, shop owners, and every other Nigerian fiercely campaigning.

If during the campaign period you travelled to some part of Nigeria, you would see okada riders always hanging posters of APC, bus drivers with Buhari's picture, every nock and corner.

The Campaign was intense, the Campaign was emotional and the campaigners all had one slogan: "Change is inevitable".

The President's camp were busy campaigning and naturally should have the upper hand afterall they had the money, they had TAN, they had AIT, NTA, they had absolutely everything- The President was also endorsed by oba's, religious leaders, Emir's but he failed to get that one most important endorsement he needed: "That of average Nigerians".

Some Online Media outlet might have been unprofessional in some instance, but it is full hypocrisy to blame them for Gej's downfall- a government which naturally should have the upper hand.

During election period, AIT, NTA were fiercely airing Anti-Buhari documentary, one which spread hate and propaganda- if Nigerians really do follow media campaigns, then Gej should have won after the whole hate spreading against buhari both on Tv and on internet.

What happened?

It didn't matter how much the Jonathan's government lied because if ordinary Nigerians couldn't experience the "fresh air" he promised, then no amount of propaganda was going to change their mind.

Normally, a sitting government do not need to campaign much, your many works would campaign for you because ordinary Nigerians would see it.

Nigerian economy ranking number 1 and over taking South Africa does not mean anything to the average Nigerian if it isn't felt on the ground by them, it means nothing if their living standard isn't upgraded, it means absolutely nothing is electricity is unstable, it means nothing when you hike the fuel prize, it meant nothing when there is insecurity,it meant nothing if there was no concrete development to show and it definately means nothing if top politicians end up embezzling the money- So this, to this Nigerians, were the sins of the ex-President and this was why he failed, this was why Nigerians revolted and this was why Nigerians stood together and said: "Enough is Enough".

A new Nigeria was born, one which gave hope to Nigerians that with determination, they would get it right. This remains a warning to all government especially the Buhari's administration that Nigerians voted not just for change but for prosperity- they do not need him to tell us our economy is number 1 while ordinary Nigerians suffer fuel scarsity, university strikes, hike in fuel prize- they do not need to tell us we over took South Africa to become number 1 economy while we suffer insecurity- Indeed, this is a warning that the only endorsement you truly need, is that of Nigerians and when you fail to get that, then be ready to move aside for another person come next election.

At this point Politicians will realize that lies, deceit, hate spreading and propaganda doesn't win you election, your works and achievements do- PDP learnt that the hard way, Jonathan also did, and Femi Fani Kayode(the hate campaigner)will learn that the harder way.
